Our Providers
Dr. Ruben J Lopez, MD
Bio
Dr Ruben J Lopez graduated from the University of Kansas School of Medicine. He completed his internship and residency at Tampa General Hospital. Dr. Lopez is Board Certified in Pediatrics. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics and American Medical Association. Dr Lopez has privileges at Halifax Medical Center and is licensed to practice medicine in Florida.
With over 30 years of experience in pediatrics, Dr. Lopez has been a trusted part of our community for many years. One of the most special parts of his journey? Watching his patients grow from little ones into adults and now having the privilege of caring for their children, too.
As a dad of three, Dr. Lopez understands firsthand the joys and challenges of raising a family. His approach to care is rooted in compassion, connection, and treating every patient like family.
When he’s not in the office, you can find him enjoying good food and spending quality time with his loved ones two of his favorite things!
We’re so grateful to have him leading our team and caring for the families in our community.
Kayla Ritzel, APRN
Kayla graduated from nurse practitioner school in 2009 from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, after 5 years of being a pediatric nurse in St Louis, Missouri. As an RN, she worked primarily in the NICU/PICU and step down unit.
Since being a nurse practitioner, she has worked in family medicine and pediatrics, but her heart has always been with pediatrics.
Kayla and her family moved to Florida from Illinois in 2014 and she joined Port Orange Pediatrics in 2018. As a mother of four, Kayla understands the hopes, worries, and everyday challenges that come with raising children. That perspective helps guide the compassionate, family-centered care she strives to provide to every child and parent who walks through our doors. Watching her patients grow from newborns into confident young people is one of the greatest joys of her work.
When not at work, you can find Kayla homeschooling and spending time with her kiddos, going to soccer games and band concerts or reading a book at the beach!
Ashley Kephart, APRN
Ashley became a nurse practitioner in 2025 after completing her studies at Chamberlain University. Prior to becoming a nurse practitioner, Ashley did seven years of nursing practice in a variety of healthcare settings, primarily in critical care and hospital nursing.
Ashley believes in looking at the whole picture of a child’s health, bringing together nutrition, exercise and wellness into play when it comes to treating and managing chronic and acute conditions.
Outside of work, Ashley is a mom to two young boys. Her and her husband keep busy with frequent beach days and family outings. Making memories with her family is her favorite, and most important, pastime.
Guillermina Gonzalez Lopez, APRN
Guille is a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner dedicated to providing compassionate, comprehensive care
to children from infancy through young adulthood. She earned her Master of Science in Nursing from Chamberlain University in 2024 and brings more than 20 years of clinical experience in pediatric care as well as college health, neurosurgery, and hospital nursing.
Her commitment to pediatric healthcare began long before becoming a Nurse Practitioner. In 2006, Guille worked alongside Dr. Lopez to help establish and open Port Orange Pediatrics, an experience that further strengthened her passion for caring for children and supporting their families.
Throughout her career, Guille has developed a broad clinical background that allows her to take a comprehensive approach to each patient’s health. She believes in family-centered care and takes the time to listen to parents’ concerns, answer questions, and build strong partnerships with families.
Outside of work, Guille enjoys spending time with her family, cooking, and taking walks along the beach.
What Our Patients Say
We’ve had a wonderful experience with this pediatric office. It’s always clean, professional, and welcoming. They answer the phone, they call you back, they always make a way to see our kids when they’re sick. Both providers are respectful of our personal stance on vaccinations and never makes me feel judged or pressured.
